As is the norm before a commercial release, Google has released the developer preview of Android 7.1 nougat. For now, this preview build is only compatible with Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and the pixel C. Since this is meant to be a developer only build, is not likely to be some errors and minor errors with this construction, so it is not recommended if you use any of these devices as the driver every day.
Android 7.1 is already running on the recently released Google Pixel XL and the pixel, but has not yet been made available for the rest of the Nexus family. Although manufacturers are already working on updating Android nougat, which however are to begin development on Android 7.1. This means that future updates will nougat Android 7.0 and not 7.1.
This could further dampen the mood at Google, who have been harassed by the ghosts of fragmentation from the start of Android. We are still more detailed understanding of how Google intends to fight this, but do not seem to have changed much in the last couple of years things.
To be eligible to receive the Android 7.1 dev preview of supported devices, you can register for the beta program Google Android. The Developer Preview will be sent to Nexus devices soon advanced age, but the company has not given a date or provide a month.
