Reliance Jio receives 7,000 points Interconnect Bharti Airtel

Bharti Airtel said on Thursday it has provided more than 7,000 additional points of interconnection (POIs) to Reliance Jio, bringing the total number of supplied more than 17,000. Although welcomed the step, Jio said more than 4.6 crore calls are failing every day between the networks of the two operators. "This capacity is sufficient to serve more than 75 million customers, based on the forecast provided by Jio to Airtel. This will also ensure that the quality of service (QoS) is maintained and customers do not bother," said a statement Airtel.

"There are no problems related to network RJIL (Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited) has faced beyond the acute shortage of POI provided by Airtel and other incumbents" RJIL said in a statement. "Can you notice that there are no flaws in network calls, while more than 4.6 crore calls are failing every day between Jio and Airtel," he added. "Airtel has been providing PoIs to Jio, even before the start of commercial operations Jio. After the commercial launch services Jio on September 5, 2016, Airtel has launched PoIs at an astonishing rate, well ahead of its bilateral and regulatory obligations, "Airtel said.

"In fact, the number of PoI provided by Airtel Jio is more than 2.5 times the number provided to an existing operator with a subscriber base comparable" he added. "RJIL hopes that this situation is now better than Airtel has agreed to provide additional POI. However, Airtel continued to violate Interconnection Agreement offering E1s oneway against E1 both directions under the Agreement, which would result in a much more efficient use of resources interconnection "RJIL said.

The Indian telecoms regulator on October 21 hit heavy penalties on three telecom players - Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular - not provide enough PoIs to Reliance Jio. He also said that the action of the three operators was "ulterior motive to stifle competition." In three similar to the three players cards, the telecommunications regulatory body of India (TRAI) said he recommended criminal prosecution of 50 rupees per service area licenses (LSA) except Jammu and Kashmir, where congestion PoI exceeded the limit permitted. Limit of 0.5 percent as reported by Airtel / Vodafone / Idea Cellular through emails in September.

In the case of Airtel and Vodafone, the fines imposed corresponded to 21 LSA, for an amount of 1,050 rupees each, while in the case of Idea, the fine was 950 rupees per 19 LSA. "RJIL expected to continue launching Airtel POIs appropriate in the future to ensure that adheres to the QOS parameter congestion POI ordered by the TRAI regulation in less than 5 per 1,000 calls at all times," said telecommunications operator.

"In June 2016, Jio had provided its forecast for the projected points of interconnection to Airtel. At a meeting held on November 1, 2016 in the presence of the TRAI, Jio reiterated its requirement and asked Airtel to provide sufficient IPI according with its forecast of June 2016, "the statement said Airtel. "With the latest increase, Airtel has provided Jio the capacity to serve 75 million customers. This is well ahead of the deadline, as there are currently 25 million customers who make calls to the network of Airtel only" Jio " he added.

"Our regulatory obligations allow us to provide interconnection over a period of 90 days," said the statement. With this increase Airtel said it has provided capacity is comparable Jio operators with six to eight times the customer base Jio in nine weeks of its lauch. "We now Jio to ensure that additional POI, which have been made available at an amazing rate, be operationalized as quickly. This will help identify any problems related to the network, which Jio may have on your network if problems persist, given the enormous capacity we provide, "Airtel said.

Jio has already provided Airtel future capacity needs 100 million customers. "As we increase their current subscribers base, will further increase the capabilities in advance, as we have always done," said the statement. Airtel said that promised to fulfill all the TRAI regulations and interconnection agreements in lette.

They said while asked TRAI to examine the incredible asymmetry of calls terminating on the Airtel network Jio because the services offered by Jio. "This continuing asymmetry degrade the customer experience for Airtel customers time and melt networks," Airtel said. With regard to the issue of asymmetry of traffic, the pattern of current traffic is completely in line with what is expected in a new network, RJIL said.

It would tend to move towards a balanced traffic as the network matures and has sufficient scale, he added.
