Uber will start motorbike taxis, UberMOTO in Hyderabad next month



The international transport network company Uber announced today the launch of motorcycle taxis here from next month. Hyderabad will be the third city in India, after Bangalore and Gurgaon to get the two-wheeled taxi service. The rates for the taxi-bike will be Rs 20 for the first 3 kms and Rs 5 per km after.

The launch of uberMoto was announced by Uber founder and CEO Travis Kalanick. "It's a fast, easy, and affordable way to get around the city, and it's great to work with a progressive and advanced government like Telangana on smart mobility solutions that can help reduce congestion in urban areas," Kalanick said after meeting With the Minister-in-Chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

He also attended a ceremony at T-Hub, where Uber signed a MoU with Hyderabad Metro for last mile connectivity. Uber India President Amit Jain and the Director General of Metro Rail Ltd of Hyderabad, N. V. S. Reddy, signed the MoU in the presence of the Minister of State for Information Technology and Municipal Administration, K. T. Rama Rao. "Uber has added another feather in our society today by launching UberMOTO to help solve transport and congestion problems for people in Hyderabad and I hope this service will help people reach their destination quickly and conveniently," said Rama Rao.

The company promises that uberMOTO offers an affordable and convenient motorcycle ride with the push of a button, through the Uber application. Pilots receive driver and bicycle details as they do for other Uber rides, as well as all standard safety features before, during and after the trip, including GPS tracking, bi-directional feedback and the ability to share details Of the trip with family and friends.

Uber officials said their two-wheeled taxi service was available in the Southeast Asian countries of Indonesia and Vietnam. According to them, it is especially suitable for the first mile / last mile of connectivity, getting people from their homes or offices to subway stations and vice versa. Both the driver and the motorcycle taxi driver have to wear helmets.
